About the Role
We're looking for a motivated Cloud Infrastructure Intern to support our growing cloud migration practice. Reporting to Senior Solutions Architect Liam Foster, you'll work directly on client projects while learning industry-standard tools and practices. This 6-month internship offers genuine exposure to AWS and Azure environments, infrastructure automation, and client-facing project work.
Our Solutions Architecture team of 4 professionals manages complex cloud migrations for organisations with 50-500 employees. You'll be contributing to real projects from day one, not just observing from the sidelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Cloud Migration Support: Assist with discovery and planning phases for client cloud migrations, including environment assessments and dependency mapping
- Infrastructure Documentation: Create and maintain technical documentation for client environments, network diagrams, and migration runbooks
- Infrastructure as Code: Learn and implement Terraform and CloudFormation templates under senior guidance
- Environment Monitoring: Help configure monitoring and alerting for newly migrated workloads using CloudWatch and Azure Monitor
- Client Deliverables: Contribute to migration reports, technical recommendations, and project status updates
- Lab Environment Management: Maintain our internal testing environments for proof-of-concept work
- Research & Analysis: Investigate emerging cloud services and prepare briefings for the team on new AWS/Azure features
What You'll Bring
- Currently studying Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (2nd year minimum)
- Basic understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, VPN)
- Familiarity with at least one cloud platform (AWS or Azure) through coursework or personal projects
- Experience with Windows and Linux command line interfaces
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written communication - you'll be contributing to client documentation
- Genuine interest in infrastructure automation and cloud architecture
- Ability to work independently while knowing when to ask for help
Preferred but not essential: - AWS Cloud Practitioner or Azure Fundamentals certification - Basic scripting experience (PowerShell, Bash, or Python) - Understanding of virtualisation concepts
